Insulation Case Studies: Crawl Space Encapsulation and Insulation Burlington, WA
Challenge
Andrew and Lori's home in Burlington, WA had been experiencing crawl space flooding, causing damage underneath his home. In addition to the water damage, they had also been dealing with a pest infestation and poor insulation, which was making his home uncomfortable and energy inefficient.
Solution
To address these issues, our crew thoroughly cleaned out the crawl space and then installed 1092 square feet of CleanSpace to encapsulate the crawl space. This system is a heavy-duty, reinforced polyethylene liner that is specifically designed to waterproof crawl spaces. It is installed on the floor, walls, and piers of the crawl space, creating a seamless barrier that prevents water from entering the space and causing further damage.
In addition to the CleanSpace Encapsulation System, we also installed Foamax Rim Joist Insulation to improve the energy efficiency of the home. This insulation seals gaps around the rim joists, which are the horizontal framing members that support the floor joists and create the crawl space. By sealing these gaps, we were able to reduce drafts and improve the overall comfort of the home.
To further protect the crawl space from water damage and pests, we also installed an EverLast crawl space door and wrapped the strip footings. These additional measures helped to seal off the crawl space and create a more secure and durable foundation for Andrew's home. Thanks to our efforts, Andrew is now able to enjoy a dry, comfortable, and energy efficient home without any further issues with crawl space flooding or pests.
