Thomas and Robyn were having moisture problems in their crawl space that were leading to musty odors in their home. Their existing vapor barrier was dingy and was covered in dirt and in some places, standing water. To prevent future moisture issues, we installed a TripleSafe Sump Pump along with drainage trenching along the footing of the interior foundation walls. We then encapsulated the crawl space in CleanSpace, our highly durable 20-mil. thick crawl space lining. The space is now a clean and healthy environment that Thomas and Robyn plan to use for storage.
This Bellingham home was frequently experiencing problems in the crawl space including water leaks and mold growth, which had led to decayed wood that needed to be replaced. Don and Kerry M., the homeowners, informed the system design specialist that this had been a recurring problem for 15 years and that they had replaced some of the wood already. They were looking for a more permanent solution to their wet crawl space troubles.
We added drainage trenching around the perimeter of the interior footing of the foundation walls to direct captured ground water to the lowest spot in the crawl space where we installed a SmartSump Pump. The SmartSump is equipped with a 1/3 hp cast iron Zoeller pump and a WaterWatch alarm that will sound anytime water reaches a point it shouldn’t. An UltraSump was added as well. The UltraSump Battery Back-up is an additional pump that will activate in the event of an initial pump failure, like in a power outage. We then encapsulated the crawl space with CleanSpace, a highly durable crawl space lining that significantly reduces moisture and humidity levels in the space. CleanSpace also has an antimicrobial agent in the lining that further protects against the growth of mold and mildew. A SaniDry CX Dehumidifier was added into the space to give the homeowner full control over the conditions of the space.
Fred and Diane lived in their Bellingham home since it was built in 1994, and had no plans to leave. Fred checked the crawl space every couple of weeks and was already aware of the problems the space was experiencing; such as water intrusion, falling insulation, and rodent infestation. The couple reached out to us because they wanted a well-insulated crawl space that was moisture-free and practical for storage. After sending out a system design specialist to perform a thorough inspection and consult with the homeowners about what he recommends, Fred and Diane went ahead with the proposal.
We installed drainage trenching along the interior perimeter of the foundation walls to capture any ground water seepage and direct it towards the SmartSump Pump we placed in the lowest point of the space. SilverGlo rigid foam insulation was installed from the top of the stem wall to the floor of the crawl space. Thanks to a patented graphite infusion process, SilverGlo has a higher R-value than standard EPS foam. Its excellent thermal properties make it ideal for insulating crawl space walls because it won’t lose its R-value or be damaged by moisture. We then encapsulated the space with CleanSpace, a highly durable crawl space lining that greatly reduces moisture and humidity levels. Finally, we added a SaniDry XP Dehumidifier to further control the moisture levels in the space. The SaniDry is completely automatic and will activate, deactivate and drain its reservoir with little to no responsibilities to the homeowner.

Paul of Bellingham, WA, noticed he had water, pests, and mold plaguing his crawl space. He called Rainy Day to transform his moldy crawl space into a dry, usable storage space. We cleaned out the area under his home by removing all debris and loose organic materials. The dirt was regraded for drainage and we installed a new TripleSafe sump pump system. The three-in-one pump system can easily tackle any water coming in and direct it out of the home through an interior discharge line. We put in our Foamax insulation to maintain a comfortable temperature, and CleanSpace vapor barrier to seal everything from wall to floor. Our finishing touch was adding in our energy-efficient SaniDry dehumidifier. This keeps air moisture at bay to prevent mold growth in the environment. The result was a completely dry, comfortable, and usable space, free of moisture and unwanted creature intrusion.

Geoffrey discovered white mold in Bellingham, WA, in the home he was renovating. He was surprised because he had only just recently cleaned out the area during the summer. He had other concerns as well, in particular, powder post beetles. System Design Specialist, Ed Upenieks, visited the family for a free, in-home inspection of the situation. We proposed installing our CleanSpace encapsulation system over all of the accessible dirt floors and below-grade concrete walls of the crawl space to isolate the home from the earth’s moisture. We also recommended putting in the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to promote a healthy environment and prevent further mold growth.

Bob & Karen of Bellingham, WA, started noticing rodents and water in their crawlspace, and were unhappy about the damage being caused. We sent out our inspector, Ed Upenieks, to visit their home for a free quote. To repair the crawlspace, we installed our SmartSump pump system with a ⅓ HP cast iron pump. We dug out interior drainage trenches to control the water and slope toward the sump. We then lined the trenches with filter fabric and installed perforated drain pipes, followed by filling over it with drain rock. The crawlspace was encapsulated using our patented CleanSpace vapor barrier to seal away all moisture and pests. The result was a highly-efficient waterproofing system to address the couple’s concerns long-term.

Fred and Diane loved living in their Bellingham, WA, home, but they were having problems with their crawl space leaking and rodents coming in. Ready to repair it, they contacted Rainy Day and scheduled the work. We began by first removing all debris, old vapor barriers, and fallen insulation in the crawl space. We placed the sump pump and dug out trenches to lay down the piping. Any of those pesky water leaks could now be easily directed into the drainage channel. The entire crawl space was encapsulated using our CleanSpace encapsulation system. CleanSpace seals off the home from the earth to prevent moisture from creeping in, and paired with a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier, the crawl space is left conditioned and clean. The family mentioned that the air now feels much cleaner as a result of the lower humidity.
Fred said, “We love the result. Slowly we are clearing out the garage and placing stuff in the reclaimed space. All who've seen the work you did are quite impressed.”

Jim was concerned for his home in Bellingham, WA, because of moisture, which was causing a problem with his floors sagging. On top of that, there was an ongoing rodent issue and the crawlspace needed a cleanup. Dampness created a moldy odor that lofted through the rest of the home. Our solution for Jim was to reset and replace the beams and mount them above a layer of CleanSpace, that way they are no longer exposed to moisture. During the encapsulation process, we are sealing away the crawlspace from the dirt and protecting it with a thick barrier made from a multi-layer polyethylene material. The great thing about this incredible liner is it also can help you save money on energy costs because it prevents the cold air from entering the home through the crawl space. Typically, when the floors in your home are cold, you spend more money trying to heat them. This helps maintain the right temperature in the right season while increasing your property’s value!

After experiencing flooding in their Bellingham, WA, crawlspace, Wendy and Preston decided fixing it was their best option. Ed, our System Design Specialist, visited the couple and determined a way to correct their problems. The project began with regrading the crawlspace soil to direct water seepage to the sump pump and out through a discharge line. Drainage matting and CleanSpace were then installed to encapsulate and seal the crawlspace from the ground. This process prevents moisture or pests from entering and causing mold or foul smells. We also added a SaniDry dehumidifier. Preston and Wendy are both very satisfied with their new system and pleased with the results.

Larry discovered Rainy Day from a Home Advisor recommendation after he was looking for multiple bids on his foundation repair project. His home in Bellingham was showing signs of foundation settlement on a corner of the home. Our proposed solution was to begin excavating in order to place a set of five Push Pier brackets. Our piers are steel tubes hydraulically driven into the ground and bears the load of the home from the bedrock to lift the foundation back into to a normal position.

Jess had concerns with dampness and water leaks in his Bellingham basement. He was interested in a waterproofing solution to stop any further damage. Leaks in basements can arise from water in the soil around the home freezing, thawing, and shifting until it begins to undermine the structural integrity and creep in. We put in drainage trenches to lead water away from the home and installed a TripleSafe sump pump. TripleSafe has an additional back-up battery and extra pumps just in case there’s a power outage or suddenly an extra high volume of moisture. Water can then escape through a LawnScape Outlet away from the yard. Fortunately for Jess, he recognized the problem before it got worse! We had a simple yet effective way to ensure a dry and healthy basement for him that will last a long time.

Zach and Emily found standing water in their Bellingham crawlspace due to an improperly installed sump pump. The homeowners were experiencing problems with iron ochre, a gelatinous, rust-colored substance that can cause serious issues with drains and pipes. Our crew went to the home and began by digging drainage trenches on the crawlspace side of the foundation and footings. Next, we flood tested the trenches to ensure proper flow to the low spot where a new sump pump would be installed. To combat the iron ochre issues, our solution was to implement specialized drainage and an IceGuard to protect the discharge line from freezing.

Mice, birds, squirrels, and ants were inviting themselves right into Daria and Brad S.’ crawl space. On top of that, water leakage was an issue, despite their sump pump they installed years prior through another company.
They’ve lived in their 1988 house since 1994 and wanted to call it home for many years to come, so they contacted Rainy Day.
A drainage system upgrade was in order, as well as a strategy to seal the crawl space to prevent water and pests from coming in.
First, we installed a TripleSafe pump system, assuring protection from three common problems that cause flooding: pump failure, water volume being too high for a single pump and power outage. With the Zoeller M53 and M98 pumps, up to 6,200 gallons of water per hour will be able to be pumped out of Daria and Brad’s crawl space. If the M53 primary pump fails or cannot keep up with the amount of water coming in, the M98 senses that it needs to start pumping. If the power goes out, a circuit breaker is tripped or the pumps get unplugged, the UltraSump III battery backup system will start pumping water out. With its 120amp battery, it can pump up to 12,000 gallons of water before needing to be recharged. Once the power comes back on, the UltraSump III will automatically start recharging. Additionally, the WaterWatch Probe Alarm constantly detects the water levels and will go off if water rises above the opening range of the pumps, allowing for time to solve the issue before water damage occurs.
We also installed a drainage system consisting of perforated pipe, filter fabric, and gravel that collects water from the walls and floor of the crawl space, even from soil surfaces. To dispose of the water, we installed a LawnScape Outlet and two IceGuards. The LawnScape is an underground downspout extension that will move water from the crawl space, under the ground and up through slots on the surface far away from the foundation of Daria and Brad’s house. The IceGuards are outside discharge lines that will make sure water gets disposed of adequately and safely if any pipes get frozen or clogged, since they themselves are freeze-proof, blockage-proof and operate automatically.
Next, we installed drainage matting on the floor of the crawl space, creating airspace on the ground and enabling any water to flow to the pump. We placed CleanSpace on top of the matting to give drainage space, provide a thermal break and help keep out pests. CleanSpace a 7-layer 20mil thick inorganic plastic liner with puncture-resistant and flexible characteristics, antimicrobial additives to fend off mold and thermal and vapor-proof properties.
Finishing the job, we installed an EverLast Door, giving the crawl space entrance and an airtight seal to keep out outside air, water, animals, dirt and other unwanted debris. This door is heavy-duty and will last in damp environments, never rotting, rusting or warping.
Critters and water damage from an unreliable pump are no longer issues for Daria and Brad. We look forward to seeing them at their next annual service appointment! You can view their testimonial here.
Scott and Jennifer N. contacted us because they were interested in the benefits that encapsulating their crawl space could offer. We sent out a system design specialist to perform a free inspection and estimate and found their crawl space strewn with tattered insulation, pools of standing water and evidence of rodents and other unwelcome pests. These Bellingham homeowners were seeking a long-term solution for the multiple problems their crawl space was experiencing and went ahead with the proposal our inspector drew up.
To control the ground water seepage, we added drainage trenching along the interior perimeter of the foundation walls. We also installed a TripleSafe Sump Pump to empty the unwanted seepage through a buried discharge line and out the LawnScape Outlet a safe distance away from the home. We then encapsulated the space in CleanSpace, a highly durable crawl space lining that completely isolates the home from the Earth drastically reducing humidity levels. A SaniDry CX Dehumidifier was also added to further control the moisture vapor.
This Bellingham crawl space was neglected throughout its entire existence. It wasn’t until the homeowner was having problems with raccoons and other rodents that someone informed them that their crawl space was a complete mess and full of standing water.
We installed drainage trenching in the space along the perimeter of the foundation walls to capture all the ground water seepage the crawl space was experiencing. To remove the captured water, we added a SmartSump Pump. The SmartSump is equipped with a high-quality Zoeller 1/3 hp cast iron pump that is capable of pumping out approximately 2500 gallons of water per hour. We then replaced the filth and water covered vapor barrier with a new 6-mils. black polyethylene one.
