The odors from their crawl space were giving David and Bonny R. headaches and making them feel ill. They reached out to Rainy Day, looking for a solution to their broken sump pump and leaking crawl space, as well as the problems that ensued such as water damage, mold, mildew, wood rot, rust, poor insulation and insect infestation.
Mold and mildew love wet, warm and damp environments, making the before crawl space a hospitable home. The 13 wide-open vents around the crawl space allowed water and dirt in, providing a foundation for the mold and mildew to start, grow and spread.
Bugs and other pests such as spiders like rotting materials like wood. As seen in the before picture, a large spider is making himself a cozy home next to the mold on the ceiling. There were spiders and eggs all over the crawl space, making matters worse.
After cleaning out all the muck—rotting wood pieces, rocks, mold, webs, the old plastic liner—we leveled the uneven surfaces. Then, to solve the leaking, mold and odor issues, we installed a full drainage and encapsulation system.
As seen in the after picture, we placed SilverGlo and CleanSpace on the walls after removing the mold and debris from the ceiling and pipes. Both SilverGlo and CleanSpace are durable, providing insulation for the crawl space, keeping condensation off the walls and creating a barrier from outside air, dirt, and pests. CleanSpace and SilverGlo are also inorganic, so they will never mold or rot. The heavy-duty white CleanSpace liner is flexible, puncture resistant and creates a healthy and welcoming crawl space.

A rodent problem and water issue in Jane’s Mount Vernon crawl space was starting to become a major concern for her. She made the call to Rainy Day with the intention of covering the vents and figuring out what else to do about water and critters entering her home. Upon inspecting the crawl space, we found rodent feces, fallen insulation, insects, and debris.
Our solution for Jane was to put in a new drainage systems to fix her water issue and put in vent covers to prevent rodents or moisture from entering. We also hauled away the debris, fallen insulation and organic materials. When the area was clear, the crawl space was fully encapsulated using CleanSpace. CleanSpace is a 20mil thick vapor barrier that prevents moisture and mold growth.
We also installed an EverLast Door to replace the old wooden crawl space entrance. Unlike wooden doors, EverLast doors do not crack, warp, or deteriorate over time and require no extra maintenance.
Luckily for Jane, her crawl space is now safe, dry, and free from unwanted pests.
These Mount Vernon homeowners moved to a new house from the east coast. In their last home, they had our CleanSpace encapsulation installed. They loved having the benefit of cool floors in the summer, and warm floors in the winter. Once they learned their new home was drafty and wet from having a vented crawl space, they decided to have our CleanSpace system installed again. Now they can enjoy their home while saving on energy, increasing their property value, and protecting the home from mold and moisture.

Dennis and Mary Ann of Mount Vernon were dealing with 6-8 inches of groundwater in their crawl space. Additionally, they had moisture spots in various areas. After removing some of the water, we sent out Ryan Adams to design a solution. He recommended installing an interior drainage channel along the perimeter to collect water. Once collected, the water could then discharge out from our TripleSafe sump pump. The system would address any leaks coming in and prevent damage in the future.

Denise and Robert noticed water pooling under the vapor barrier in their Mount Vernon crawlspace and decided to make the call to Rainy Day for a quote. Recent heavy rains were causing concern and they were ready to stop the problem before things got worse. Foreman, Xavier Ortiz, and the crew installed a new interior crawlspace drainage channel with perforated piping to help guide water from the perimeter of the crawlspace to a sump pump. We installed our SuperSump Plus sump system and redirected the water out of the home from a discharge line away from the yard. Now, the couple no longer has to worry about their crawlspace getting wet during heavy rains.

The tag was living in his Mount Vernon, WA, home for about five years, and his crawl space sump pump stopped working. Water continued to leak into the crawl space despite the faulty sump pump. He called Rainy Day, and we set up a plan to solve his problem. We replaced the existing sump with our SuperSump. Our pump is designed with an airtight lid, so it won't clog with debris or pests and becomes safer. The perforations in the liner capture groundwater and connect to the interior drainage system where the water can get drained away from the home. The result of our installation was a dry, efficient crawl space waterproofing system for years to come.

Gloria of Mount Vernon, WA first heard about Rainy Day Basement Systems from the NW Clipper and contacted us to inspect her crawl space. Gloria, like many busy homeowners, rarely went under her home to look at it, but she figured it was in need of a clean-out. During the initial inspection, Jean-Paul noted seeing a lot of water in the crawl space which was wreaking havoc under her home.
We devised a plan and shortly after began the project. We started with laying down piping and digging trenches to control the excess water coming in. We then performed a flood test to ensure proper flow to the sump pump location. The crawl space was then encapsulated with CleanSpace, an antimicrobial crawl space liner, and a SaniDry Sedona was added to keep the humidity low.
Rainy Day is pleased that it was able to deliver the quality of products and services that Gloria expected.

Cheryl was getting ready to put flooring down in her new home when she noticed water leaking into her crawl space. The water was holding up the installation of new flooring and she needed a solution fast. Even though the Mount Vernon home was still fairly new, black mold was already growing throughout the crawl space. We came in and installed a new drainage system, added our very best TripleSafe Sump Pump system, and applied Mold X to affected areas.
Cheryl can now rest easy knowing her crawl space is healthy and dry! Give us a call if you would like to schedule a free inspection and estimate with one of our specialists at 1-833-988-3570
Amanda and Kurtis contacted Rainy Day after the pest control inspector noted water in the crawl space of their Mount Vernon home. They needed to have a clean-out of the area and drainage system put in. We began by digging a shallow trench about a foot away from the footings to avoid undermining. Once piping was in place, a flood test was preformed to ensure proper flow to the low spot of the sump location. The homeowners decided to add the TripleSafe pump system in order to make the crawl space stay dry and protected. All water will now discharge discretely through the LawnScape Outlet away from the yard.

David and Bonny R. contacted Rainy Day to fix flooding issues, put a stop to mold and illuminate the mildew smell from upstairs. We installed drainage systems and encapsulated their crawl space, turning the dirty smelly mess into a welcoming environment.
The horrible smell traveling to the other areas of their home were giving David and Bonny headaches and making them feel ill. To fix this problem, we installed a drainage system that would keep the room dry and mold-free. Getting a lot of rain where they are located, we also ensured that the sump pump we installed would be able to keep up with the heavy water, unlike the previous pump from a different company that kept breaking down.
We installed a TripleSafe Sump Pump with a battery backup system and primary and secondary pump, ensuring that heavy water flow or power outage would not lead to flooding. The WaterWatch Floor Alarm will also give the homeowners reassurance that if their crawl space floor starts leaking again, they will be notified right away until the problem is fixed.
Now, the water and moisture that tries to come into the crawl space will be pumped outside away from the foundation via a LawnScape Outlet that connects to the house’s downspout. Two IceGuards were also installed outside the crawl space to guarantee that water will be disposed of even if the other pipes get clogged with debris or freeze.
13 CleanSpace Vent Covers, an EverLast Door, SilverGlo, and CleanSpace were also installed, making sure that moisture, water, pests, outside air and dirt will be sealed out in the future. The SilverGlo and CleanSpace also provide insulation, so the homeowners have more control over their crawl space temperature and don’t have to pay higher heating and cooling bills.
Flooding is no longer happening. The crawl space is now sealed off and moisture is under control, keeping mold from forming again. The vents and door are now sealed, preventing pests, rubble and outside air from coming in. With the fresh seals and newly insulated walls, David and Bonny no longer have to pay unnecessary heating and cooling costs. Together, all these items create a safe, odorless environment. Who would not want a healthier home?

Frank and Debbie C. lived in their Mount Vernon home for 13 years. Their crawl space was not particularly wet, however, it was humid and very dirty. In the summers the space would fill with humid sticky air and during the winters, they dealt with cold floors underneath their feet. After seeing our ad in The Clipper, they knew Rainy Day Basement Systems had the solution they were looking for.
To prevent moisture from seeping into Frank and Debbie’s crawl space the entire space was encapsulated in CleanSpace. CleanSpace is a heavy-duty antimicrobial lining that isolates the house completely from the ground below. To enhance the encapsulation, all twelve crawl space vents were sealed with our Masonary Wall Vents. Finally, an EverLast Crawl Space Door was installed. The door is made of completely inorganic materials, it’s waterproof and prevents the growth of mold and mildew. It has a weather-strip on the back and uses screws to close to offer the most effective seal. For further moisture protection, a SaniDry CX Air System was installed. The dehumidifier is fully automatic and can remove up to 13 gallons of water a day. Frank and Debbie now have a clean space to keep their storage and won’t have to worry about any moisture damaging their belongings.
