Jim and Cathy bought their home back in 2002. Since living there, they had been experiencing moisture problems in their crawl space due to some settlement issues. Their home had a few areas in the flooring that was uneven and on occasion they were getting wafts of musty odors. We removed and replaced some of the pier pads below the home to re-stabilize the floors. To prevent future moisture problems, we installed drainage trenching along the footing of the interior foundation walls. The trenching will effectively capture the ground water before it is able to seep up in to puddles of standing water. Water captured by the drainage will flow through their newly installed TripleSafe Sump Pump. We also encapsulated the crawl space in our antimicrobial crawl space vapor barrier CleanSpace. The lining will prevent moisture vapor and eliminate mildew and growth mold.

This Burlington crawl space was in terrible condition. The vapor barrier was shifted around and had allowed dirt and water to get on top, making it a mess and ineffective. The homeowners said there were natural springs in the area and they have been struggling with water intrusion in their crawl space since it was built back in 1994.
We replaced their pre-existing sump pump with our more powerful TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe features three pumps in one offering the homeowner the most protection against water intrusion. Next, we added drainage trenching to direct the ground water and other seepage towards the new TripleSafe.
Finally, we lined their crawl space with a more durable lining than the traditional 6 mils. black barrier they previously had. CleanSpace Light is a 10 mm thick vapor barrier that has an antimicrobial agent built right in. The lining greatly reduces the moisture and humidity levels in the space, in addition to furthering prevent against mold and mildew.

This home in Burlington had water leaking in the crawl space through the gutters and the vapor barrier. The crawl space had piled up insulation and was experiencing dampness so the homeowners were looking for a solution.
We first removed all debris and organic material and then dug shallow trenches to lay down drainage piping to guide the water out of a LawnScape Outlet away from the yard.
To protect the home from further water damage, we added a TripleSafe sump pump system at the low spot of the crawl space. We encapsulated the area using CleanSpace to seal it and provide better air quality in the living space.
A bonus to the encapsulation process is the energy savings along with less problems of unwanted pests or mold. To finish, we put in a SaniDry Dehumidifier to maintain air humidity, leaving air in the home perfectly comfortable.
The results were a beautiful, healthy, and dry crawl space for years to come.

The vapor barrier in this crawl space was in a terrible condition. It had shifted around allowing dirt and water above the barrier, making it a mess and ineffective. There are natural springs near this Burlington home and the homeowners had been fighting with water intrusion in the crawl space since it was built back in 1994.
We replaced their pre-existing sump pump with our more powerful TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe features three pumps in one offering the homeowner the most protection against water intrusion. A second pump will activate in the case that the initial pump cannot handle the inflow of water. A third and battery operated pump, the UltraSump, is meant for worst-case scenarios like a power outage and the first and second pump fail to activate. The UltraSump can remove just over 11,000 gallons on a new, fully charged battery. Subsequently, drainage trenching was added to help direct groundwater towards the new TripleSafe.
Jim and Cathy G. reached out to Rainy Day Basement Systems because they noticed their Burlington home had settled a bit over the time they lived there. This lead to the development of a crack in their foundation. They found standing water in their crawl space and believed their gutters ran underneath their existing vapor barrier contributing to the problem. Their main objective was to fix the vapor barrier and prevent future water from entering the space.
In order to accomplish this goal, Rainy Day encapsulated Jim and Cathy’s crawl space with CleanSpace, our heaviest most durable liner. By completely enclosing the space, the risk of moisture is greatly reduced, in turn lowering the possibility of mold growth. In addition, CleanSpace is manufactured with an antimicrobial agent called UltraFresh to further enhance that prevention. To control the humidity of the crawl space a SaniDry CX dehumidifier equipped to automatically empty was installed, leaving no obligation to the homeowner of having to supervise and empty it.
Drainage trenches were added to the exterior footing of the foundation walls, these will help catch water before it reaches the crawl space. Water gathered through the dehumidifier and drainage trenches will ultimately be pumped through the installed TripleSafe Sump Pump and out through their LawnScape outlet. The outlet leads the water through a discrete buried discharge line and away from the house where it can be absorbed into the ground without disturbing the foundation of the home.
With this system Rainy Day achieved Jim and Cathy’s goals and they won’t have to worry about water intrusion again.
