Crawl Space Repair Case Studies: Burlington Crawl Space Encapsulation
Challenge
Glen and Martha F. called Rainy Day Basement Systems after hearing about the great work we did in a previous job done for their friend Terry S. They had lived in their Burlington home for 20 years and their crawl space was in bad shape. The walls were leaking moisture, there was standing water in the space and the vapor barrier was haphazardly lying about. Their goal was to fix the ground and wall seepage as well as prevent mold.
Solution
To best prevent against water seepage, the crawl space was encapsulated using CleanSpace; an antimicrobial lining that greatly reduces the humidity levels in the air and eliminates the opportunity for mold and mildew growth. To further avert water seepage, drainage trenches were installed along all walls at the footing of the foundation.
These trenches will lead all captured water to their newly installed TripleSafe Sump Pump. What is so effective about the TripleSafe is that it’s three pumps in one. It gives the homeowner complete peace of mind because if one pump fails or cannot handle the volume, another is there to help; and a third, battery operated pump is there to automatically run in the instance of a power outage. The pump is also equipped with the WaterWatch Alarm system, a product that will alert Glen and Martha if it comes in contact with water, perhaps from a future plumbing concern, so they can handle the matter right away before it could cause even more serious damage. The water flows out through their added LawnScape Outlet, a buried discharge line that discreetly releases the water a safe distance away from the home’s foundation.
Glen and Martha are pleased with their new system, and Rainy Day is happy they could be the ones to help!
