Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Fixing a Mountlake Terrace Leak Before it Becomes too Serious
Challenge
It’s very easy for people to think that something “will never happen to me.” That is what Lyle G. thought while living in his Mountlake Terrace home for 34 years with no complications. Until one day he went into his basement to find his foundation leaking and seepage coming through the wall and floor seam. Although the most water he ever found at one time was around one pint, he knew that dismissing the problem would only lead to more, and often worse ones.
Solution
Rainy Day Basement Systems took many steps to ensure than Lyle’s basement won’t be seeing any more water in the future. They enclosed the space with CleanSpace, an antimicrobial covering that creates a moisture and vapor barrier. The lining eliminates the need to paint by providing a bright, stain-resistant finish which ultimately forces any wall moisture and seepage to flow into the installed drainage system.
The drainage system installed was the WaterGuard sub-floor system, it has a distinctive “d” shape effectively catches all seepage a delivers it to the installed TripleSafe Sump Pump. They installed a LawnScape outlet to discretely discharge all of the unwanted water a safe distance from the house. Finally, an IceGuard was added to the discharge line to prevent floods from occurring in the instance of freezing and clogging.
All of these measures are sure to keep Lyle’s basement clean and dry so he can remain in his house as long as he pleases without having to worry about future water damage.
