Job Stories From Clinton, WA
Crawl Space Repair in Clinton, WA

Pamela and her husband from Clinton, Washington, were referred to Rainy Day Basement Systems by a local contractor. They had recently purchased a home and noticed a musty smell and mold in the crawl space. Planning to downsize to the home and completely remodel it, they wanted to start with the crawlspace and foundation work. They were looking for a permanent solution that would improve the air quality and give them peace of mind. Jean-Paul, a System Design Specialist from Rainy Day, met with the homeowners to inspect the crawl space, measure the area, and document the findings. He then sat down with them to discuss the findings, go over the options, and design a solution that fit the scope of work they were looking to accomplish. The solution he proposed included a full-perimeter drainage system and sump pump installation to take care of the water under the home. He also proposed encapsulating the crawl space in CleanSpace, sealing the vents, installing a new access, and installing a new dehumidifier. This solution would not only completely control the groundwater seepage, but also provide permanent protection and clean, healthy air for the whole home.

Crawlspace Vapor Barrier and Insulation in Clinton, WA

Kate from Clinton, WA, contacted us because of her 1970's crawlspace needed updating. She was looking for options to insulate the home and get rid of mold and musty smells. Ryan came out for a free inspection and estimate to do a thorough inspection and make a recommendation. To cover all of her concerns, we designed a system to help isolate the home from the dirt below, thus ridding the home of the musty smell, preventing mold and moisture, and improving the overall health of the home. We did so by doing a clean-out and installing our patented CleanSpace Encapsulation System, where a 20 mil thick liner is caulked, taped, sealed, and fastened to the floor and walls of the crawlspace. The material is resistant to punctures and antimicrobial, which helps make the space energy efficient and usable. We installed a SmartDrain to capture any plumbing or surface leaks above the barrier, and installed a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier to filter the air and keep humidity at bay. Now her home is clean, healthy, and dry, with no musty smells.

Keeping Crawl Spaces dry with CleanSpace Technology

Steven and Patricia lived in their Clinton home for 8 years before they started noticing the signs of a leaky crawl space. Steven accesses the crawl space on a fairly regular basis and the water in addition to rodents and pests was becoming a more serious issue.

Rainy Day Basement Systems went and completely encapsulated their crawl space with CleanSpace, an antimicrobial lining that was made specifically to prevent against water and mold from penetrating into the space. To assist in keeping the space dry, a SaniDry CX Air System dehumidifier was installed. this will further help regulate the temperature and humidity. A TripleSafe pump system was added along with a LawnScape outlet to lead all the water to a safe distance away from the home. Finally, an IceGuard was installed to prevent the discharge line from freezing or clogging and causing flooding.

Steven and Patricia now have a clean and dry crawl space they can now access at any time without having to worry about standing water or rodents.

I have water in a corner of the crawl space in the winter. When the king tide hit last year there was even more water. I would like to install a sump pump to fix the problem.

My 1970s house needs the crawl space upgraded both from the flooring (upside w fiberglass insulation), and the old vapor barrier replaced (plastic). Mold is present. Rodents are not.
Project Location: Clinton, WA
We have a 960 square foot crawlspace that needs vapor barrier replaced. There is mold on some of the floor joists and at times can smell it inside the house. The fiberglass insulation is falling. When we purchased the house there hadn't been a gutter on the front of the house and there was a leak in the laundry. Those issues have been addressed. We are looking for a reinsulation of rather crawl space, mold clean up, encapulation and possibly a dehumidifier.
Project Location: Clinton, WA
Looking to finish our basement, but foundation walls have a high moisture level. No problem with actual water in its liquid form, but definitely high humidity. I'm thinking some of your closed-cell wall panels, combined with a good dehumidifier would probably do the trick.
Project Location: Clinton, WA
Need someone to go under house and check visqueen and dampness. Noticed smell of mildew and hasn't been checked in some time. Large access entrance in closet.

Buyers inspection report showed in crawl space deteriorated wood, post loose and wrong use of concrete pier pad. Also, insulation needs repair due to rodent activity.

I am building a new house with a crawl space. It is 1200 sq ft. What would you recommend for crawl space ventilation? I don't like the idea of bringing wet air under the floor. Thanks, John

I moved into a new home about a year and a half ago. There were some drainage issues in the crawl space at the time of purchase which were addressed and supposedly corrected, but I would just like to have an assessment to see if everything looks ok down there.

Getting flood insurance and need to add 4 crawl space vents. Need to get it done this week or early next.
Project Location: Clinton, WA
My house is newly remodeled, and we're having problems with the wood floor cupping. I had a certified flooring inspection and the inspector said that the crawlspace humidity is very high. When I bought the house the crawlspace was enclosed, but as part of the remodeling process they added vents. After doing my own research on enclosed vs vented crawlspaces I think this is part of the problem. I want to get a bid on sealing up the vents and adding a dehumidifier. Is it possible to install some kind of an alarm system on the unit to let you know if it fails? All of the duct work is new but I want it inspected to make sure it's properly sealed, so I can be sure that it isn't carrying the crawlspace nastiness up into the house. I'm not sure if there is a vapor barrier on the floors and walls but the floor was also insulated as part of the construction process, though from what I've been reading a vented crawlspace and insulated floor can cause condensation and mold issues. I'd like to make an appt ASAP as the cupping floors will likely get worse until the crawlspace issue is solved. I believe the crawlspace area is somewhere between 1500 and 2000 sq ft. Thanks!
