Crawl Space Repair Case Studies: Crawl Space Encapsulation in Everson Home
Challenge
Bob and Pam A. were getting close to retirement and knew that they would be spending much more time inside their Everson home. They had lived there 33 years already and had no plans to leave once retired. In the more recent years, they started to notice their floors were colder than usual, and there were indications that rodents had made an intrusion into their crawlspace. They were also concerned about a leak into their crawlspace from under their back porch. Bob and Pam called Rainy Day Basement Systems because they had the capability to solve all these problems.
Solution
Their entire crawl space was encapsulated in CleanSpace, an antimicrobial crawl space lining that completely separates the home from the earth. Vent covers were added to further block the outdoor elements. This encapsulation system combined with the removal of insulation, and of all debris, deters rodents from inhibiting the region. It keeps the crawls space at a more consistent temperature, in addition to keeping it at a lower humidity. To assist in the regulation of humidity in their crawl space, a SaniDry CSB dehumidifier was installed. All of these measures will allow Bob and Pam to better control the temperature of their crawl space and ultimately their home.
Finally, a SmartDrain plumbing leak system was installed to help identify future plumbing leaks. The drain is placed in the lowest point of the space. If there is a plumbing leak, the water is lead to the drain atop the CleanSpace lining. This will trigger an alarm to let the homeowner know so they can take actions to fix it.
Rainy Day Basement Systems is happy to have been a part of Bob and Pam’s solution to a happy and warm retirement.
