Crawl Space Repair Case Studies: Keeping Crawl Spaces Dry in Langley
Challenge
Like many crawl spaces, Wayne and Paula’s was dingy, leaky and their sump pump was completely outdated. They had lived in their home for 15 years and had every intention of remaining there for good. However, in order to make that possibility a reality, they knew an expert was required to repair their dampened crawl space.
Solution
To keep Paula and Wayne’s crawl space dry and mold-free, Rainy Day Basement Systems encapsulated their crawl space with CleanSpace, an antimicrobial crawl space lining that helps prevent water vapor and mold from developing. They also installed a SaniDry CX dehumidifier which keeps the space at a constant temperature and the humidity low enough to encourage mold to go dormant and inhibit the growth of mold in the future.
To further prevent water from creeping in, a drainage trench system was installed to the exterior of the foundation wall footing. This helps collect water from the foundation walls and leads it to their SmartSump Pump system where it will eventually be drained through the LawnScape outlet; this is a buried downspout that discretely flows the water a safe distance away from the home.
Finally, they sealed it all off with an Everlast Crawl Space Door and access well for easy access to and from their crawl space. These doors are specially made for sealing crawl spaces and are made entirely out of inorganic material that is waterproof, rust proof and resistant to the growth of mold.
