Rainy Day Basement Systems Case Studies: Preventing Water Seepage in Camano Island Home
Challenge
Chris and Tammy J. moved into their Camano Island home in 2009, right away they began dealing with common crawl space problems. Their floors remained cold throughout the winter, the crawl space leaked water throughout the wet months and there were indications of rodents living in the space. Chris and Tammy had only lived in their home for six years and with no plans on moving again, they chose to make the investment of encapsulating their crawl space to prevent more serious problems for themselves in the long run.
Solution
To best prevent against water seepage, Rainy Day encapsulated Chris and Tammy’s entire crawl space with CleanSpace. The CleanSpace antimicrobial encapsulation system completely separates the home from the ground below, greatly reducing humidity in the space and thwarting the growth of mold and rot. Wall vents covers were added to finish the encapsulation. The system is even more effective when coupled with the SaniDry CX dehumidifier they had added as well. Drainage trenches were installed along the exterior wall footings to further prevent moisture and seepage from making its way into their crawl space.
All of the captured water will be pumped through their new TripleSafe sump pump and exit through their LawnScape outlet. The outlet is a buried discharge line that carries the water where is can safely be absorbed into the ground away from the foundation of the home. Lastly, they installed an EverLast access well and EverLast door. The EverLast system is made of durable materials that will never rust, corrode or support mold growth; in addition, it gives the entry to a crawl space a much more aesthetically pleasing look.
Chris and Tammy are thrilled with their crawl space, it’s completely clean and dry and they now have more room for storage.
