Rainy Day Basement Systems Case Studies: Sagging Floors Fixed in Bellingham, WA
Challenge
When the kitchen floors in Jamie’s Bellingham, WA, home began to sag, she decided to call Rainy Day. The home was built in 1924 and their family was ready to remodel the floors. As the problem steadily worsened, we came up with a plan to lift the home back into place.
Solution
On the exterior walls of the crawl space, we installed drainage trenches, making sure to avoid undermining. With the trenches in place, we performed a flood test to ensure the water flowed properly to the low spot. We installed multiple SmartJacks throughout the crawl space to lift the support back into place and stabilize the foundation. We also removed the lower portion of the exterior siding and replaced the sill plates and rim joists as needed. CleanSpace matting and liner was added to seal and encapsulate the crawl space, and then we put in a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to detect and maintain proper moisture in the air. Our TerraBlock flexible insulation was put in below the CleanSpace liner with Foamax insulation over the crawlspace walls. The finished product was a permanently beautiful, dry crawl space.
