The crawl space was encapsulated and sealed using our CleanSpace seven-ply vapor barrier. We also added a SaniDry dehumidifier to hinder mold and keep humidity low.

Preventing an Iron Ochre Clog in Mountlake Terrace

Bob and Dori had been through it before. Their basement was prone to flooding and they had already taken multiple actions in attempt to solve the problem. They reached out to Rainy Day Basement Systems because they were unsatisfied with work previously done by another company that clearly had not lived up to their expectations.

One of the first things Rainy Day observed in their basement was a severe iron ochre problem. Iron ochre is a waste byproduct of iron bacteria and it survives by oxidizing materials dissolved from water. The result of this is a rust-colored slime residue that is known to affect drain and plumbing systems by clogging up pipes and blocking drains. Fortunately, Rainy Day has a product created just for flooding waters with iron ochre present. The WaterGuard IOS System was designed with large drainage holes on the side specifically to help prevent the drain from clogging. They also installed a new downspout line with three separate LawnScape outlets because their previous one, from a different company, had become clogged and was not draining. Finally, they treated the wood inside their basement with Mold X Cleaner, an effective tool for cleaning mold contaminated building surfaces.

Hello, We have a 1960ish split level home. Interior French drain installed downstairs about 15 years ago. When we have extreme weather events, like snow melt followed by rain, or a pineapple express, our system cannot keep up.
