Crawl Space Repair Case Studies: Sump Pump Replaced in Mill Creek Home
Challenge
Tim and Kathy were having serious problems with their crawl space filling up with water after long periods of rain, and in Washington, that happened regularly. While they already had a sump pump in place, it was not installed by a professional and clearly was not built for handling the amount of water it was receiving. This lead to their current pump frequently overflowing and flooding their crawl space.
Solution
Rainy Day Basement Systems lined Tim and Kathy’s crawl space with CleanSpace, an antimicrobial lining designed specifically to keep moisture out and prevent the growth of mold and mildew. Their vents were also sealed with vent covers completing the encapsulation. This method encloses the space entirely, greatly reducing the amount of moisture that infiltrates it.
Their unproductive sump pump was replaced with our TripleSafe pump. This sump pump will have no difficulties handling the volume of water that reaches their crawl space. It offers three times the protection by including two water outlets, two pumps that can process up to an impressive 6,200 gallons per hour and a battery backup system for worst case scenarios, like a power outage. The pump will capture water from the drainage trenches that were installed along the exterior wall footing, redirecting it away from the foundation of the home. Water also is collected by the SaniDry CX dehumidifier, equipped to drain automatically, leaving the owner only peace of mind knowing their crawl space will remain clean and dry without the obligation of having to monitor it.
To finish their crawl space off, Tim and Kathy had an EverLast Access Well and EverLast Door installed for the easiest access to their space as well as a visually pleasing appearance. Made from completely inorganic material the access well and door are both waterproof and mold resistant.
By applying this system Tim and Kathy will no longer have to worry about water reaching their crawl space, especially when it rains!
