Rainy Day Hosts Clothing Drive to Benefit Foster Kids

Donations

The United States is home to more than 400,000 foster kids. Many children who enter foster care were removed from their homes unexpectedly with very few, if any, of their own belongings. Foster parents receive some compensation to help pay for basic necessities, but oftentimes it’s not enough. Growing children need properly fitted shoes, seasonally appropriate clothing and an ever-growing list of school supplies. For many foster families, providing all these items can be too costly and some kids may simply have to go without. That’s where the Mattress Firm Foster Kids program comes in. In partner with local foster care organizations, the program strives to improve the lives of our local foster children by donating clothes, school supplies and holiday gifts as well as giving them access to special childhood activities, like summer camp and music lessons.

MayIn support of the program, and National Foster Care Month, Rainy Day Basement Systems is hosting a Mattress Firm Foster Kids Clothing Drive! Starting Monday April 24th, we will be accepting donations of new clothes, such as shirts, pants, dresses and pajamas during open office hours. Our office is located at 18931 59th Ave. NE Ste. 5 in Arlington and is open from 8am-4pm Monday through Friday. All donated items will be delivered to the local Mattress Firm on June 18th.

For children who may have been separated from their parents and siblings, these small donations can make a huge positive impact in their lives. A stylish new outfit can transform an individual’s mindset and make them feel confident in their own skin. Together we can give foster kids that same opportunity.
