Challenge

Valerie H. contacted us after noticing her sump pump no longer seemed to be working. She was getting quite a bit of pooling water in her crawl space and was concerned about serious moisture-related damages; like wood rot and mold growth. We sent out an inspector to perform a free inspection and estimate to provide Valerie with a long-term solution to her crawl space troubles.

Solution

Our inspector suggested we add drainage trenching, replace her inoperative sump pump and install the CleanSpace Crawl Space Encapsulation System to best protect Valerie’s home. The drainage was installed along the interior footing of the foundation walls which will direct all water seepage to the newly added SmartSump. Equipped with a high-quality 1/3 hp cast iron pump and automatic float switch, the SmartSump can remove a substantial 2600 gallons of water an hour.

Next, the crawl space was encapsulated in CleanSpace. This is a highly durable, seven-layer crawl space lining that greatly reduces moisture and humidity levels. It is fastened directly to the foundation walls to create an extremely efficient barrier separating the home from the Earth below. The lining also has an antimicrobial agent built right in to prevent the growth of mold and mildew. Finally, we installed a SaniDry CX Dehumidifier to further control the moisture in the space. The SaniDry CX requires little attention from a homeowner and will activate and drain automatically once the humidity level is set.
