Rainy Day Basement Systems Case Studies: Preventing Water Damage in Clinton Home
Challenge
Every time it would rain, without fail, Mark and Betty S.’s basement would collect a couple inches of water. They had lived in their Clinton home since 1990 and in several instances the water problem had caused damage including to their stairs and items they kept stored down there. They were most concerned about the water damaging the furnace in addition to other stored items. Mold was visible, especially growing by window sills where condensation is generated the most. After more than two decades of dealing with these matters on their own, Mark and Betty called in Rainy Day Basement Systems for a more permanent solution.
Solution
To combat the water making its way into Mark and Betty’s basement, Rainy Day installed a WaterGuard sub-floor drainage system to catch wall and floor seepage before it reaches the basement; and its unique design prevents it from clogging. A WaterGuard Inspection Port was also added for easy access to the system. A TripleSafe Pump was installed to lead all of the water a safe distance away from the home along with an UltraSump battery back-up pumping system. A Water Watch Alarm Floor puck was placed in the lowest spot, this will alert Mark and Betty in the event of a plumbing leak into the space. The entire space was encapsulated in CleanSpace, an antimicrobial crawl space liner that completely isolates the home from the earth. When coupled with a SaniDry CX dehumidifier, the crawl space is kept at steady temperature and a low enough humidity that mold becomes dormant and new mold cannot grow.
